To All My Au Pairs,

In the welcome packet I gave each of you when you first arrived and we met for the Two Week Host Family and Au Pair Orientation meeting there are two documents that explain how to file your US tax 1040 NR form for the stipend payments you received from your host family in the year 2011.

Those documents are:

Au Pair Weekly Stipend Payment Receipt Form

Cultural Care recommends that au pairs submit this form to the US Government by April 15, 2012 along with a tax payment (if required).

I wil be glad to meet with you to help you complete the 1040 NR tax form.  I would prefer to do the meeting in my home with a maximum of 3 au pairs at a time. This meeting would take approximately 45 minutes.

If you are interested in my help please contact me by email or telephone. I plan to start these small group tax preparation meetings next week and would like to have them completed by the end of February.

Anastasia From Germany arrives on Friday January 27, 2012

Let’s give a big welcome to the second au pair to arrive to our group this year 2012.

Anastasia is 18 years old. She was born in the Ukraine and migrated to Germany with her family when she was 3 years old. She is in a jazz and modern dance group and has been dancing for 10 years. She likes music and plays the drums. Her other passion is photography. She has traveled to may places and likes to learn about other cultures. She speaks fluent Russian as well as German.

Child care: Beginning in 2012, all child care employees who care for newborns or infants must undergo training on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and safe sleep recommendations every three years. The training is from the American Academy of Pediatrics. (Illinois House Bill 2099).

To All My Au Pairs

This email is to remind you that we have a very important au pair meeting this month.

It is a CEP (Continuing Education Program) where you will be learning a very important skill, CPR. CPR (or cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a combination of rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) and chest compressions. If someone isn’t breathing or circulating blood adequately, CPR can restore circulation of oxygen-rich blood to the brain. Without oxygen, permanent brain damage or death can occur in less than 8 minutes. CPR may be necessary during many different emergencies, including accidents, near-drowning, suffocation, poisoning, smoke inhalation, electrocution injuries, and suspected sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Every childcare provider should know how and when to administer CPR. When performed correctly, CPR can save a child’s life by restoring breathing and circulation until advanced life support can be given by health care providers.

Reading about CPR and learning when it’s needed will give you a basic understanding of the concept and procedure, but it’s strongly recommended that you learn the details of how to perform CPR by taking a course. If CPR is needed, using the correct technique will give someone the best chance of recovery.

Our January meeting will be held on Sunday January 22, 2012 from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Gurnee Fire Department 6581 Dada Drive Gurnee, Illinois (just north of the Jewel Grocery store on Hunt Club Road Gurnee, Illinois).

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY!! So we can begin the class promptly at 3 pm.

The cost per attendee is $10. PLEASE HAVE THE CORRECT AMOUNT. I will not be able to give change for $20 dollar bills or more.
