German Au Pairs have a shortcut for obtaining their Illinois driver’s license.
GERMAN AU PAIRS:
You can go to the German Embassy at:
676 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 3200

hours:
Mon.-Fri. 9am-12pm
You will/show:
- Pay $7.00
- Your current German/ International License
- Your Social Security #
- Proof of address (i.e. bank statement or letter to you at your current address)
- “Official letter” from CCAP sent to your host family
They will issue you a letter that you will take to the DMV. You will take the vision test and pay the Driver’s License fee. You will be issued your State License without having to take the written or driving tests.
